Introduction
What AdeyVerify is and what you can build with it
AdeyVerify is a Verification-as-a-Service API for the Ethiopian market. It gives you one consistent interface for four kinds of checks:
- Bank verification — identify a supported bank, and optionally resolve an account holder's name for a given account number.
- Mobile money verification — resolve a TeleBirr or M-Pesa wallet holder's name from a phone number.
- Transaction verification — verify a CBE or Telebirr transaction by reference, receipt URL, SMS text, or receipt HTML.
- Business license verification — look up a business's registration and license status by TIN against Ethiopia's official eTrade registry.
Be honest about what each result means
Every verification response includes a source field. AdeyVerify never overstates how a result
was obtained:

OFFICIAL_REGISTRY | Confirmed directly against an official government registry (eTrade). |
THIRD_PARTY_PROVIDER | Resolved via a third-party lookup (afrocash.co for bank/mobile money name resolution, or a bank/telecom's own receipt/transaction system). Not an official confirmation from the institution itself. |
INTERNAL_DIRECTORY | Matched against AdeyVerify's own curated reference data (e.g. the bank directory), not a live external check. |
MANUAL_REVIEW | Reviewed by a human. |
A REQUIRES_REVIEW status means AdeyVerify could not confidently confirm or reject the request —
treat it as "needs a human to look at this," not as a failure.
