AdeyVerify

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does a 200 OK mean the verification passed?

No. It means the request succeeded. Check the status field in the response body — NOT_FOUND, REJECTED, and REQUIRES_REVIEW are all valid outcomes of a successful call. See Error Handling.

What's the difference between TEST and LIVE API keys?

Currently, nothing behaviorally — both hit the same real providers. The distinction exists for your own key management and tracking. See Sandbox Environment.

Can I trust THIRD_PARTY_PROVIDER results as much as OFFICIAL_REGISTRY results?

No — treat them differently. OFFICIAL_REGISTRY (business license verification) comes directly from Ethiopia's eTrade government registry. THIRD_PARTY_PROVIDER (bank/mobile money name resolution, and CBE/Telebirr transaction lookups) comes from the bank/telecom's own systems or a third-party remittance provider — reliable, but not an official government confirmation. See Introduction.

Why did my bank account holder-name lookup return REQUIRES_REVIEW instead of a name?

Either the bank isn't currently supported for that lookup (check errors in the response), or the account number didn't resolve to a receiver. It is never silently guessed.

Can I submit the same transaction reference twice?

Yes — safely. AdeyVerify recognizes the replay and returns the original result with "replay": true instead of creating a duplicate record. See Transaction Verification.

My organization can't call the API anymore — why?

Check for a 403 FORBIDDEN with a suspension message — an administrator may have suspended your organization. This is always deliberate, never automatic. Contact support to resolve it.

Are webhooks available?

Not yet — see Webhooks for current status and planned design.
