Sandbox Environment
Testing without live data
There isn't a separate mocked/sandbox environment yet — TEST and LIVE API keys currently hit
the same real providers (afrocash, eTrade, CBE, Telebirr). The environment field on a key is
for your own tracking, not a behavioral switch. Keep this in mind: a TEST key still makes real
external lookups.
Safe values for testing
A few references are known to resolve without depending on a live, time-sensitive transaction:
- Transaction verification: the reference
DIH1TJ194Tis a stable Telebirr fixture that resolves consistently — useful for testing the request/response shape without a real payment. - Business license verification: any valid 10-digit TIN works, but the result reflects the real, current eTrade registry — there's no fixture TIN.
- Bank verification: identifying a bank by name (no
bankAccount) never calls an external provider — it's a lookup against AdeyVerify's own directory, so it's always safe and fast to test with.
For anything that depends on a real transaction or account, you'll need genuine data — there's no way around that while the lookups are real.
In-dashboard tester
The dashboard's Bank/Mobile Money/Transaction/Business License Verification pages let you try requests directly, authenticated by your session rather than an API key — handy for exploring the response shape before wiring up code.
